Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!
2021 was a very weird year for me. I worked less hard, achieved good enough results, met my current partner, hung out with special friends new and old, travelled less because of COVID… and looking back, I had a good year but still I don’t feel like I accomplished my potential. And to top things off I finished the year with my loved ones getting mild COVID. The booster must have worked because I didn’t catch it. Awesome for me, I guess! Luckily it didn’t ruin Christmas and it made New Year's eve a quiet one.
At the start of last year, I didn’t really know what to expect. I couldn’t live life on the road like I had done for the previous 4 years. I did travel. I went to Croatia, Scotland, Gran Canaria. And to be honest, it’s been nice to take some down time. See the people that know me the most and meet a partner to grow some roots with. Coming back to the U.K. has been special and being close to friends and family has been nice, but I know in my heart I will travel again. But this time I would like to do it with a base I can travel to and from. And my heart tells me it will be Canada or Switzerland. My partner wants Switzerland. Switzerland would be nice because I can fly home to see my mum and friends easily so I won’t miss big events like weddings, big birthdays and babies. So I guess that’s my first resolution for the year… move to a new place: Probably Switzerland. I feel excited but also quite calm saying this… It’s not an impulsive decision like I used to make. It’s a decision that feels good and sits well. I want to be a traveller with a base. I am no longer a traveller with just a suitcase.
Another thing I want to work on in the new year is routine. I remember when I used to wake up with so much passion for what I do. I lost that a little when COVID started. Although my target audience grew because more people were starting to work remotely, I felt very withdrawn and less productive. I guess I was trying to find myself again in a new world that wasn’t filled with travel. So this year, I am focused on putting my efforts into transforming my style, my efforts and my energy into helping my clients get excited for life even when there are lockdowns. Making the most of their life with what they have… and of course bringing their ideas to life through entrepreneurship. If you want to find out more, book in a call by clicking here.
And lastly, like most people at this time of year… I am focused on getting fitter and healthier. Cooking more, exercising more, cycling more… and when I can, snowboarding and surfing more. Back to my old self before COVID lockdowns trapped me in a state of fatigue. Onwards and up to a new year of health… we’ve almost recovered from this downtime of COVID!
I also promise to blog more. I took some time away because I was focused on living in the present last year. I found it easier to write when I was on the road. The sun energises me. But now I feel ready to give tips, tricks and truths about me and life as a digital nomad. So watch this space.
Lastly, new years are always a good time to think about what you want from your future self. It’s a good time to create mood boards, set goals and make action plans so you can get the most out of your year.
The best and quickest way to make a mood board is using Pinterest and Canva. Pinterest has all the pictures you need and Canva is a great canvas and is very easy to use. Just copy and paste pictures from Pinterest to Canva and voila, soon enough you will have your mood board. You can also write words on your mood board so you can fuel yourself up with words that motivate you. It’s good to have a word to motivate you to stick to your goals. My word for the year is Believe. I *believe* that I can make 2022 a year of success, levelling up, and empowerment. What’s your word of motivation for the year?
Here is my mood board to inspire yours:
